LinkedIn is a great networking and prospecting tool for advisors. A recent Putnam-sponsored survey found that 95% of financial advisors using social networks in the past year had used LinkedIn.
With this popularity comes some risk. LinkedIn shows viewers of your profile other profiles that have been viewed by similar users. In effect, you are giving free display advertising to the competition on your LinkedIn profile.
You can remove the “People Also Viewed” box from your profile view.
- Move your cursor over your profile photo at the top right of your homepage and click Privacy & Settings. For verification purposes, you may need to sign in again.
- Click the Profile tab in the middle left side of the page.
- Click Show/hide “Viewers of this profile also viewed.”
- Check or uncheck the box.
- Click Save changes.
Changing this setting keeps the focus on you, rather than your competitors.
